Disney Dreams, or You can be a princess even if you're a freak!
Most of you know about my love (unhealthy obsession) for Peter Pan.
What's not to love about a crazy, tenacious, 12 year old boy clinging to his youth whilst fighting pirates\grownups?
Absolutley nothing!
But now I have a new obsession. Namely Alice in Wonderland. (the disney cartoon. Not the Tim Burton Movie.) Oh Man. I feel like Alice is myself. In British school girl form. Also, I'm sorta in love with the Mad Hatter. But not from the movie, no sirree. I love the Hatter from Disneyland.
Oh Man, I'm a freak! But that's okay! Disney loves freaks. Sometimes they even make them princesses.
Exhibit A: Ariel (aka Miss "I love you even though I've never met you and I will stalk you untill you marry me")
1. She collects other people's garbage. In the human world, that's not cute. That's creepy.
2. She's 16! 16!!!!! And she married a guy after knowing him for three days. And she couldn't even talk. Can you say disfunctional relationship?
3. Immodest wardrobe. Tiffany does not approve.
Exhibit B: Snow White (aka Miss"I trust every stranger I meet and think it's ok to accept food from them!")
1. What happened to her nose? Does she even have one?
2. She lives in a house with 7 little men. Even though they are tiny, they are still men. Not ok.
3. Her prince is a serious creeper and looks like a girl.
Exhibit C: Cinderella (aka Miss "I let my stepfamily push me around because I have no personality and can't think for myself!")
1. Her only friends are filthy rodents who can talk.
2. She's majorly OCD.
3. Her prince is mute (except he can sing) and has a shoe fetish
Exhibit C: Belle (aka: Miss "I fell in love with a fluffy monster!")
1. Can you say Stockholm Syndrome?
2. Thinks talking furniture is perfectly normal
3. Her prince has major anger issues and looks better as a fluffy moster than a human.
PS. I honestly do love 50% of these princesses. I just thought they had issues that needed adressing.

Adventures in the Windy City Part 1 : The Train and Lou Mitchel's
Let me begin by saying that I LOVE LOVE LOVE going on trips that get me out of school for a few days! It's a beautiful thing when you are out doing something exciting instead of sitting in a dark and stinky school. With that out of the way, LET THE BLOGGING COMMENCE!
Fact#1 : Tiffany loves to travel by train. It's true. I absolutely do! So when I found out we ("we" being my family and I) were taking the train to Chicago on Tuesday the 23 and Wednesday the 24, I was rather excited. Actually, that's an understatement. I was waaay more than rather excited. Anywhoo, waking up at the crack of dawn rather cooled my arduous passion for train travels, but once we got to the station, I was primed and ready to go! Fact#2: In Tiffany's opinion, train stations are breeding ground for mystery and romance. However, the East Lansing station is not one of those places. It's rather dark and smelly (like my school). Hardly a breeding ground for romance at all. It was an excellent place for a mystery, despite it's decidedly non-romantic atmosphere. One can find all sorts of people on a train. Here are the sort of people I found: 5 German speaking Amish people, A middle aged business man, two very loud middle aged women, A very rich elderly lady and her grandson, and two European women. Add a plot and you have yourself a mystery! Despite all of the mystery floating in the air, I found myself very very very bored on the train. And guess how long it took to get there?! 4 hours. 4 very long hours. Finally, we arrived at Union station in Chicago! My goodness, it was GINORMOUS! It was like, 5 blocks long. I'm not kidding.
Once we found our way out of the maze that is Union Station, we were very hungry. So, we decided to eat at Lou Mitchell's. BEST DECISION EVER! oh my goodness, how do I describe the perfection that is Lou Mitchell's? Fact#3: Tiffany loves banana pancakes. It's a new development. Before, I was a little wary of the yellow fruit, but thanks to the most delicious pancakes EVER, I have been converted into a banana lover. Oh myyyy, just thinking about them makes my mouth water! They were so moist, fluffy and banana-y. yummmm.

Tiffany and Betsy, BFF's for life
Today I had the glorious opportunity of reading one of my favorite book series of all time, the Betsy-Tacy series. In my opinion, it is one of the best series ever! It's right up there with Anne of Green Gables and Little Women for me. Betsy is one of my favorite characters of all time! I love how she never gives up on her dream of writing ( a lesson I need to learn), how she sticks by her friends no matter what, and always tries to make the best of things, even though they don't go the way she wants them too (another lesson I need to learn). Not only that, but I absolutely adore every aspect of the books (of course)! I love how Betsy has a "Crowd" of friends she does things with all of the time. I love the prospect of "going with" a boy and not acting "spoony" with him. I also love the slang, as you can tell :) And I love how The Crowd always gathered around the Ray's piano and sang. We need more of this!!! Also, I think Joe Willard is one of the best fictional boys ever! (along with Gilbert Blythe, and Laurie from Little Women). Oh my goodness! If only he were real... We need more boys like him in the world. Yes, anyways... To summarize, I think you all should read the Betsy-Tacy series if you haven't already. It's sooo wonderful!

Let it snow...or not
I think if I see another snow flake, I will scream! Don't get me wrong, I love snow in its place. But 10 inches?? Really? Is anyone else having nightmares about being crushed to death by snow?

She's alive!
I'm not dead! I'm really not! I just have been neglecting my poor little blog. I'd like to say that it won't happen again, but it just might. In the event that this happens, you (all three of my followers) have every right to call me and pester me till I write a new post. Anywhoowhoo, here are some highlights from this past week: My purity ring came in the mail today! I don't think I've ever been more excited to get anything in the mail. Now people will know about my commitment to God, and that's a wonderful thing! On Sunday, my dad (whom I love very much if he's reading this) told me that the Superbowl is a giant salad. I love my dad! On Saturday, I helped out at a silent auction for my school. It was very fun and we raised a lot of money. Not much happened during the rest of the week. So anyway, that's what's new with me!

Lost in Austen!
I have recently had the happy privilidge of discovering the most wonderful miniseries on tv! It's called Lost in Austen and it's about a Jane Austen fan who goes into the world of Pride and Prejudice through a door in her bathroom. I think someone has read my mind! Oh my goodness, it is amazing! I've only watched the first episode, but it's sooo good! I don't think it is on tv anymore, as it is rather old, but you can find it on youtube.
here are some of my favourite quotes (courtesy of IMDB)
Amanda Price: I'm not hung up about Darcy. I do not sit at home with the pause button on Colin Firth in clingy pants, okay? I love the love story. I love Elizabeth. I love the manners and language and the courtesy. It's become part of who I am and what I want. I'm saying that I have standards.
Frankie: Oh, you have standards, pet. I hope they help you on with your coat when you're 70.
Mr Bingley : Darcy regards all forms of sudden locomotion as emblematic of ill-breeding. Hunting, tennis, rising precipitately from a chair...
Mr. Darcy: When Miss Price and I dance, sir, there shall be nothing sudden.
Amanda Price: I can't dance this sort of dance.
Mr. Darcy: Nor I. Together we shall make a shambles. But we shall do it with such authority that everyone will stare at us to learn the step.
Mr. Bingley: [after Amanda sings 'Downtown'] Brava, Miss Price! And whenever life is gettin' me down, I shall be sure to go 'downtown'. Eh, Darcy?
Mr. Darcy: With alacrity.
