Tiffany and Betsy, BFF's for life

Today I had the glorious opportunity of reading one of my favorite book series of all time, the Betsy-Tacy series. In my opinion, it is one of the best series ever! It's right up there with Anne of Green Gables and Little Women for me. Betsy is one of my favorite characters of all time! I love how she never gives up on her dream of writing ( a lesson I need to learn), how she sticks by her friends no matter what, and always tries to make the best of things, even though they don't go the way she wants them too (another lesson I need to learn). Not only that, but I absolutely adore every aspect of the books (of course)! I love how Betsy has a "Crowd" of friends she does things with all of the time. I love the prospect of "going with" a boy and not acting "spoony" with him. I also love the slang, as you can tell :) And I love how The Crowd always gathered around the Ray's piano and sang. We need more of this!!! Also, I think Joe Willard is one of the best fictional boys ever! (along with Gilbert Blythe, and Laurie from Little Women). Oh my goodness! If only he were real... We need more boys like him in the world. Yes, anyways... To summarize, I think you all should read the Betsy-Tacy series if you haven't already. It's sooo wonderful!

Let it snow...or not

I think if I see another snow flake, I will scream! Don't get me wrong, I love snow in its place. But 10 inches?? Really? Is anyone else having nightmares about being crushed to death by snow?

She's alive!

I'm not dead! I'm really not! I just have been neglecting my poor little blog. I'd like to say that it won't happen again, but it just might. In the event that this happens, you (all three of my followers) have every right to call me and pester me till I write a new post. Anywhoowhoo, here are some highlights from this past week: My purity ring came in the mail today! I don't think I've ever been more excited to get anything in the mail. Now people will know about my commitment to God, and that's a wonderful thing! On Sunday, my dad (whom I love very much if he's reading this) told me that the Superbowl is a giant salad. I love my dad! On Saturday, I helped out at a silent auction for my school. It was very fun and we raised a lot of money. Not much happened during the rest of the week. So anyway, that's what's new with me!

Lost in Austen!

I have recently had the happy privilidge of discovering the most wonderful miniseries on tv! It's called Lost in Austen and it's about a Jane Austen fan who goes into the world of Pride and Prejudice through a door in her bathroom. I think someone has read my mind! Oh my goodness, it is amazing! I've only watched the first episode, but it's sooo good! I don't think it is on tv anymore, as it is rather old, but you can find it on youtube.
here are some of my favourite quotes (courtesy of IMDB)

Amanda Price: I'm not hung up about Darcy. I do not sit at home with the pause button on Colin Firth in clingy pants, okay? I love the love story. I love Elizabeth. I love the manners and language and the courtesy. It's become part of who I am and what I want. I'm saying that I have standards.
Frankie: Oh, you have standards, pet. I hope they help you on with your coat when you're 70.

Mr Bingley : Darcy regards all forms of sudden locomotion as emblematic of ill-breeding. Hunting, tennis, rising precipitately from a chair...
Mr. Darcy: When Miss Price and I dance, sir, there shall be nothing sudden.
Amanda Price: I can't dance this sort of dance.
Mr. Darcy: Nor I. Together we shall make a shambles. But we shall do it with such authority that everyone will stare at us to learn the step.

Mr. Bingley: [after Amanda sings 'Downtown'] Brava, Miss Price! And whenever life is gettin' me down, I shall be sure to go 'downtown'. Eh, Darcy?
Mr. Darcy: With alacrity.

Quote of the Week

This week's quote is supplied by my dear friend, Mr. C. S. Lewis (I'm sure we would be friends if only I had been born a little earlier) "You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me. " Amen, Mr. Lewis. Amen.

Tiffany the whiner baby

I just re-read my previous post "Tiffany posted on her blog??!! Has the world come to an end??!!" This is what it sounded like to me: "grumble grumble complain I HATE WEDNESDAYS! complain complain whine WITH A BURNING PASSION!" My goodness, am I a complainer or what?? Yes, it's true, Wednesday and I do not exactly get along. But does that mean that I have to whine about it like a two year old? NO! In short, God has given me a spoonful of perspective. Even though I may not like it, I still should praise Him for another day to be alive! This is the last peep you shall ever hear from me about disliking Wednesdays. From now on, I shall be a model of optimisim.

Tiffany posted on her blog?!! Has the world come to an end??!!

In a word; yes. My mom and I have recently started the tradition of watching musicals on Wednesday nights, which we call Musical Night. Aren't we creative? Anyway, this little gem of an idea was spawned out of my brain, becase (to put it bluntly) I detest Wednesdays with a passion. Wednesdays are the bane of my existance. Not only do I not have a study hall that day ( a great tragedy in my mind), but I also have the most destable of all classes in it's stead: computers. And (yes, there's more) I have to clean the lunch room after lunch, making me late to my next class. Can you see why I hate Wednesdays now? The only redeeming qualities the day has are my voice lessons, and Musical Night. So, in light of the upcoming Musical Night, we (as in the royal "we") shall be picking out a musical to watch. But we are rather stumped as to which muscal to select. If you would give us suggestions in the comments, we would greatly appretiate it!!
